Habitual defaulters or just a momentary lapse?

The current scenario is not only unique and worrisome but it has thrown up a large number of challenges that humankind was not prepared for.

Until now the focus was on building walls, launching into space and creating all kinds of weapons to protect ourselves from our so-called enemies, who seemed to be more real than any other threat. Of course, all the development in science must be applauded and we have indeed made great progress in many ways and trounced many a country in many fields.

But the world perhaps as a whole forgot to focus equally on aspects that would actually get us through. Man forgot to take care of the very place that gives everything, like literally everything to make life livable. We were contemplating an explosion but the truth is uglier and because of the strange and virulent attitude of humans we are in this conundrum.

Apathy set in after man realized his unequivocal power over other species and this arrogance led to taking everything for granted, even his own existence. What had started out as harmonious coexistence during the stage of hunter-gatherers has manifested and culminated in devastating greed that has ripped the planet of it’s dignity

Rampant misuse of power with little or no regard for the consequences has brought mankind to a crossroad like never before. Ever wondered why it got to such a stage? Ever think how despicable has been the overall attitude of the human race.?

Not only did we stop living in harmony or equilibrium with other species but we outdid our own race, imploding from within, annihilating each other in the most gruesome manner. Somehow we failed to take into account the fragility of the balance in Nature. We continuously misused, abused and more often than not were indifferent to the rot that had set in long ago; exacerbated by our own doing. There was no attempt to stem it, no effort to resolve issues. Would getting rid of age-old detrimental habits help? Would focussing on everything around, rather than considering humans as the nucleus of the universe change the scenario? Would honestly answering questions asked by children assuage the pain we see around?

Are there simple ways to undo the immense damage?

Is this just a momentary lapse?

So true. The arrogance of Homo Sapiens as the master of all has taken its toll. The nature has struck back with vengeance to bring us to our knees. It's the right time to sit back and reflect on the causes of our undoing. We need to bring love and compassion back into our lives and learn to respect nature once again. Hopefully we will learn and reclaim our lives.
Beautifully written. . . Really thought provoking.

Thank you Dr Kumar. A complete paradigm shift is the only answer.
