A tattered psyche: dividing minds…

The beauty of our country lies in its multiplicity, in the plurality of cultures and in its intertwined and closely woven ethos. Each community and region has a distinct flavor, language, subtly different and strikingly similar to another, though sometimes just a stone’s throw from another and sometimes situated miles apart. Coexistence is the norm, synchronized existence spells harmony. There is place for everyone under the Sun. These are not just homilies or platitudes, but have been experienced by many including myself. Things go off the handle, so to speak when one becomes too closeted, too possessive and too dependent on a certain aspect or viewpoint. That is exactly what happened a few days ago in a certain town that was just stabilizing after a brush with a near flood situation in some parts and was getting back to normal after a full-fledged devastation in other parts. Damage to property and lives notwithstanding the common man was just managing to get back on his f...

Do you walk the talk?

A child is special , a child is tender , looks up to you and often wonders . A child is sensitive , its curious too, looks for role models in you. Be their shining light , be their cover , be there when there is no other . Walk the talk with them, do not double talk or smother . Keep the child alive in you, then see them change and grow anew . ©Copyright Suverchala Kashyap A journey with varied hues... Whether you are a parent, teacher or guide, remember this  is a life long journey, with happiness and sadness combined… Be ready for the tears, be there  with the smiles, set the benchmarks high. But, tell them you will be there  come hail or shine, teach them along the way how to fly…   ©Copyright Suverchala Kashyap

Plato or Aristotle, Kautilya or Socrates, used it at different points of time, to explore bottomless pits, successfully, yet unable to describe, its unpredictability, its reach or its abilities, ever so often stumping mankind. ©Copyright Suverchala Kashyap     Nothing is absolute, but is relative in more ways than one. This maxim seems to make greater sense when one sees the interlocking patterns coexisting in the universe and its tiniest ecosystem. A word that depicts the most beautiful connotation of this symbiotic relationship is photosynthesis. One would wonder what is so great about this very ordinary word. Well, in this very word is ensconced a simple process that ends up creating life, as we know it, on earth. Of course, there are other factors that le...

Numbing pain

Another life snuffed out in vain, this time a child who couldn’t take any more complaints. A cheerful boy, so full of life, a thing for music and a twinkle in his eye. The hurt is raw, I’m numbed with pain. Is this the life we give our kids, are marks the index of anyone’s mind? A child is gone, does it create a stir, a child is going every minute of the day, does it change the way we teach or learn? If this is what education is all about? I’d rather they stayed uneducated, but alive…  ©Copyright Suverchala Kashyap A tribute to a child I knew once upon a time…a child somewhere around us every minute of the day…a child is as delicate as a lump of clay, make or mar is for adults to ordain...
